TEN weeks into the season and two sides are battling for the right to be named last unbeaten team in the league.

Bury Felt A and Walshaw SC each have a perfect record of ten wins from ten games.

Apart from those two, every other team in the league has been defeated at least on one occasion while four teams are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

The Division One title is looking a four horse race with Elton Vale A still challenging the "big three".

Ramsbottom Ladies hold a slight advantage as they have only been defeated once with the others having lost twice.

The latest reverse came last Monday when Fishpool A went down to an excellent performance frmo lowly Unsworth CC.

Ramsbottom and Ainsworth A both had innings victories while Elton Vale A won narrowly from Redvales (84-96).

The division's final game saw St Mary's A gain revenge for an early season defeat at the hands of their own B team.

As already mentioned, Bury Felt A made it ten straight wins with a home success over Bury West (181-147).

Swan Ladies A are currently holding second place although several teams are still close enough to pounce should there be any slip-up.

Walshaw Ladies finally kick-started their season this week with a first win of the season in their home game against Limefield.

Following Tuesday's Division Three action, we now have keen competition at both end os the table.

While Kings XI and St Mary's C moved onto 14 points to date, there are four other teams sat only two points behind. Meanwhile, four teams are currently with six points each and any two could face relegation at the end of the season.

Kings' record of late is worthy of special mention. After only three weeks of the season they were firmly rooted to bottom spot following three defeats.

Since then they have been unbeaten and have a good chance of returning to the second tier next season.

Tottington C's defeat of Ainsworth TF sees them remain top of Division Four with a two point advantage over nearest rivals Radcliffe Boro who were also easy winners over Elton Youth.

Century Seal, Tottington B and Peelers were the other winners on the night.

In Division Five, leaders Cricketers maintained their four point advantage at the top with an easy win over the unfortunate Walmersley Ladies.

Exodus remain second after their innings win against Bury Sports, though three teams remain within striking distance of that second spot and Exodus must maintain their form as one slip could prove costly.

Walshaw SC look to be well on the way to promotion, this week's win over bottom side Sundial Ladies saw them move onto twenty points and only St Annes can claim anything like that total with sixteen after a narrow victory over TNT (175-171).

Wins for both Wren Ladies and Elton Vale C now sees Phoenix Ladies slide into the second relegation slot, they must start winning soon if they are to avoid a quick return to Division Seven.

In the Seventh, Sunset Ladies defeated Swan Ladies B (179-128)) and remain four points clear of the rest at the top of the division.

Elsewhere this week, Westbury defeated Westdene Ladies by an innings/ Brocks XI juniors defeated Nuttall Ladies and Fairfield Ladies won a marathon game from Elton Vale Juniors (364-253).

On Friday, those who made the short journey to Darcy Lever were treated to an excellent clash between Bolton and Bury's senior inter-league sides. The game stood out for the two teams' excellent fielding displays and although Bolton ran out winners on the night there was nothing which said that Bury would not be able to turn the result around when they play the home leg in four weeks time.

The inter-league action this week is at Radcliffe Cricket Club when the over-45s play their second leg against Bolton after losing by a seven point margin in the first. Action starts at 7pm.

l There will be an inter-league practice for both juniors and intermediates this Sunday, 6pm at Manchester Road Playing Fields. Cry-offs to Sylvia or Julie.

l Kings XI of Division Three have moved grounds and now play at Ramsbottom Pool, contact their secretary for details.
