THE past week has seen extremely warm conditions and the carp active on several waters locally.
In the Thursday evening target match held on Island Lodge with an improved turn out. (Target weight 16lb).
Top weight fill to Steve Hall fishing peg 13 with 5-9-13, in second place Dave Brierley peg three with 4-11-6, third John Fletcher peg seven with 3-15-6 and fourth Paul White peg four with 3-2-8.
Several local anglers travelled to Yorkshire on Sunday to fish the Northern qualifier of senses pole championship, fished by 120 anglers, two of them coming in the top six.
Fished on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal at Thorne: first, Steve Donaghue 30-14-0, 15 skimmers, eight pound roach; second, Dave Waggler (Fishermans Way) 14-14-0; third, M. Hardy (Thorne) 12-12-0; fourth, R. Barrett (Merlin Bait) 12-10-0; fifth, Jonathan Jowett (Drennan NW) 11-6-0; sixth C. Ellis (Tri Cast Calder) 9-3-0.
In the Pilsworth Monday Open held on the bottom ponds: first, Bernard Taylor (Fishermans Way 44-12-0; second, D. Edwards 20-8-0; third, R. Gough (Fishermans Way) 19-8-0.
In the Pilsworth Fisheries, Sunday 6pm, held on the carp lake: first, P. Cunliffe (Gilders) 14-10-0; second, J. Vernon (Middleton) 12-0-0; third S. Booth (Fishermans Way) 11-10-0.
There was an increased turn out on the Mirfield AC Open held on the River Calder.. First, John Nuttall 25-11-0 14 chub, 10 roach; second Mick Shaw (Hursttackle) 18-9-0; third, Fred Prudham (Medlock Bridge) 14-11-0 roach, dace, chublets.

The next club match for Greenhalgh trophy takes place on Cliffe Reservoir on Sunday, July 3, draw 8.15am, fishing 9am to 2pm.
ROYAL HOTEL SEA ANGLERS
The next club trip takes place on Sunday, July 10 to Liverpool, to fish aboard Atlantis, sailing at 6am.
BURY JUNIOR SECTION
The first match in the junior summer series takes place on the Island Lodge on Wednesday, July 1, draw time 6pm, fishing 6.30 to 9pm for the junior trophy.
BURY SENIOR SECTION
Seventeen nominations have been submitted from members to fish the division one national on the Grand Union Canal, on Saturday, July 16.
Next Thursday, July 7, there is a special meeting of nominees to decide the 12-man squad and reserves. The meeting takes place at Bury Bridge Working Mens Club at 9pm. The next club match takes place on Foulridge Reservoir on Sunday July 31.
