I REFER to the article "'New deli anger" (LET, June 29) and would like to offer Mr Ian Finch some opinions of mine.
I followed with interest the case of Mr Finch who decided to open his business, Puccino's, in King William Street, Blackburn, three years ago without having first sought or gained planning permission. (I had a vested interest at the time as I owned premises near to Mr Finch's, which actually had gained the 'A3; consent to trade).
Mr Finch used the media to highlight his plight, resulting in the local authority agreeing to allow Mr Finch to continue in his venture even though he had made the mistake of not ensuring the premises had the correct planning consent before he opened.
Whatever compromise was agreed at the time to allow Mr Finch to continue his venture would have been agreed by both sides, therefore Mr Finch's latest outburst really does "anger"; it angers me as a local resident and someone who sat back and did not object at the time when Mr Finch was given favourable treatment after his mistake.
The local authority helped Mr Finch after his error and his attempts to manipulate the situation now to further enhance his compromised position strikes me as a bare-faced cheek.
Mr Finch opened a business without planning consent; Mr Finch must therefore bear the consequences of his error and not try and blame others for his mistakes.
MR DIXON, Revidge Road, Blackburn.
