TODMORDEN booked their place in the Worsley Cup final with a dramtic last-ball win over Rishton.

Jon Henderson was Tod's hero after smashing a six off the final ball to take Tod through to the final.

With Todmorden needing nine off the last over chasing Rishton's 234-3, Rishton pro Kumar Dharmasena knocked over Ben Sutcliffe and Paul Brierley in consecutive balls before a leg bye brought henderson on strike.

He managed to squeeze a two before smashing the final ball over the long off boundary to spark wild celebrations at Centre Vale.

Earlier, Dharmasena had made 90 and Peter Sleep 74 not out in a stand of 166 as Rishton made 234-3.

Tod's reply got off to a good start with Gyan Pandey hitting 80 and the returning skipper Stuart Priestley, who has been out for several weeks with a back injury, making 59 before Henderson's heroics.

Tod will face Ramsbottom in the final on August 7 after they beat Haslingden.

The league champions were routed for just 116 as they batted first against the current league leaders.

John Simpson made the only real contribution to the Haslingden total as he made 47 before becoming one of Mike Haslam's three wickets as the Ramsbottom opening bowler finished with 3-22 from his 10 overs.

Haslingden's sub pro Otis Gibson, standing in for the injured Pasan Wanasinghe, could only make 14 before falling to Simon Read.

Ramsbottom pro Murali Kartik was in awesome form with the ball taking 2 for 9 from six ovesr.

But Ramsbottom were made to work for their final berth with Jimmy Hayhurst and Stuart Catterall taking three wickets each.

But decent contributions from Alex Bell (20) and Simon Read (17) gave support to David Bell who made a patient 46 to see Ramsbottom through to the final as the Acre Bottom side continue their quest for league and cup glory this season.
