I WRITE in reply to the letter (LET, June 28) from Coun Brian Gordon regarding his concerns over the policing of the area around Witton Park, Blackburn, during the two events that will take place this month, the Arts in the Park and the Mela.
There have been two meetings with the police, event organisers, the health and safety teams etc., which I attended in the town hall and police station, on behalf of the residents, putting a plan together which will hopefully put a stop to all the problems we had with motorists last year.
May I also point out that two weeks ago on a Saturday morning my colleague Coun Rishton and myself held a meeting with residents on Tower Road, one of the problem spots last year and talked over the plan. That will be put in place in July.
More council staff and police will be on duty and action will be taken against any motorist who does not comply with the notices.
