MORE than £500,000 is to be spent by Bury Council on increasing road safety and reducing the number and severity of accidents.
Councillors approved the £522,000 programme after studying accident rates which identified high risk areas.
The cash will pay for a number of measures including traffic signals, pedestrian refuges speed cushions, road humps and carriageway narrowing schemes.
