UNSWORTH taxi driver Steve Higton played Snooker legend Steve Davis off the table but didn't progress beyond the group stage in the World Pool Championships.
Higton won two out of seven games in the prestigious event, held in Taiwan, including a 5-0 walloping of Davis.
Higton was up against 128 players from an estimated 40 countries after qualifying through an event in London.
The top potter lost 5-1 to Ching-sun Yang in his opening game before being defeated 5-2 by Australias Phil Reilly.
On the tournaments second day, Higton opened with his victory over Davis before putting himself in with a great chance of progression after a 5-3 victory over Venezuelas Jerry Calderon.
Unfortunately, defeats to Rodolfo Luat from the Phillipines, Patrick Ooi Fook Yuen from Malaysia and Hungarian Vilmos Foldes ended Higton's dream at the group stages.
