SEDGLEY Park can add the SAS to the list of organisations it is approaching in an effort to make the 2005-2006 National Division One Tigers the fittest team the club has ever produced.
Already back in pre-season training, coaches Tim Fourie and Andy Northey will be taking the first team squad to the Lake District and an adventurous training centre called "Go Ape", run by former-SAS soldiers, during August.
By way of freshening up the team's training routine, sessions this season will alternate between the club's training pitches, Heaton Park and Philips Park HS.
In addition to the existing squad, which so far boasts newcomers Shaun Woof (centre), Chris Hall (wing), Philip Gazzola (prop) and Chris Rowe (lock), with a mystery fly-half and a Kiwi number eight to follow, this week's opening sessions attracted several trialists, notably 21-year-old Anselmians flanker Simon Welch and Rotherham wing/centre Richard Hopkinson.
