PRESTWICH CC second team have reached the final of the Hulme Trophy for a remarkable fourth time on the trot.
Having won the cup for the past three years, they booked their place in another final showdown with a convincing victory over Flowery Field last Sunday.
They had set a total of 270 for 8 with Peter Walters hitting 54, Sean Haslam 56, John Fiorentini 54 and Matt Walsh a quickfire 49.
Facing such a daunting target, the home side wilted to 85 all out, with Peter Lorenzini grabbing 4 for 28.
The previous day, Walsh (5 for 23) and John Walters (4 for 56) restricted Denton to 108 all out, and an unbeaten 63 from Haslam gave the side a nine-wicket victory and kept the 2nd XI firnmly in the hunt for league silverware as well as cup.
l A youthful Prestwich 3rd XI staged a thrilling three-wicket win against Swinton Moorside. Veteran Steve Brady struck 63 in a 98-run stand with 13-year-old David Taylor who remained unbeaten on 33 as fellow youngster Richard Scargill hit the winning runs with an over to spare.
