A sports and social club that attracted hundreds of families could make a comeback following a £40,000 cash boost.
The former British Textured Rubber (BTR) Sports and Social Club, Centurion Way, Farington, Leyland, was a haven for workers of the company which was based at aniother site on Centurion Way.
It is hoped the new plans, including vandal-proof changing rooms, a 20-space car park, an artificial cricket wicket, and renovation of the two football pitches, will revive the club.
The site, owned by developers Rowland Homes, will be leased by Farington Parish Council and South Ribble Borough Council, and will guarantee the future of the popular Leyland Playscheme, started by the late Jim Green.
John Nelson, secretary of the Central Lancs Junior Football League, based at St Gerard's Parochial Centre, Lostock Hall, said: "There's a massive shortage of football pitches so it's great news.
"I remember when there used to be huge sporting events there with hundreds of people."
A gala day will be held this Saturday at the site, 1pm-6pm, to showcase the plans.
Farington councillor, Mark Alcock, said: "Hopefully by putting facilities at the BTR site we will renew a feeling of community."
