I WAS saddened to read the article about suggested bullying at St. John's school Radcliffe, especially as the mother involved has, in the past, been a supportive and hardworking parent of the school.
Although she has now resigned from the governing body, during the year she has attended governors' meetings without indicating in any way that there was anything amiss with her daughter.
The governors, as in all schools, find bullying abhorrent and have every confidence that should such a situation arise, the head and staff would deal with it in a sensitive and constructive way.
St. John's is a happy school, which is obvious to me each time I visit. The caring relationships between children and between staff and children were commented on in our last Ofsted report and the very welcome support of many parents is evident in the letters which I have recently received via the school. I hope this "blip" will not spoil the many planned end-of-term activities and that all the staff can get on with what they do best - making St. John's a school where the children want to be.
