A BURNLEY cafe has raised more than £300 for Pendleside Hospice by asking for customers’ loose change.
The collection was organised by the family and friends of Joseph Shannon at the Stables Cafe, at Towneley Park.
A total of £304 was raised and has now been presented to the Reedley-based hospice.
The amount included a donation of £50 from the cafe.
Gary Shannon, Joseph’s son, said: “We chose to donate the money raised to Pendleside as my mum was cared for by the hospice and it was decided to put it forward to help others in the community.”
The money raised will help the hospice provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
Annual running costs now exceed £2.85million, of which, more than £2million has to be raised from donations.
