BALLOONS were released at Blackburn Town Hall in memory of a popular council worker.
Lynn Hindle, 40, who worked for the authority for 12 years, died of ovarian cancer last summer after raising thousands of pounds for charity.
Colleagues, her family and friends all sponsored the balloon release to save money for the East Lancashire Hospice.
Friday’s event coincided with what would have been Lynn’s 41st birthday.
Hundreds of people attended the council worker’s funeral last year after being inspired by Lynn’s story and her bravery.
