RESIDENTS are being urged to be beware of bogus callers after a number of distraction burglaries.
Two men claiming to be gas board officials are said to have conned their way into the homes of elderly residents living in Burnley and Pendle before stealing cash, including £2,500 in one case.
Officers are reminding residents to be vigilant and always ask for ID.
Detective Sergeant Ian Glass said: “Our advice is not to answer the door unless you are expecting a visit and if you are unsure about a caller, keep them out.
"If they are legitimate they will call back when you have had time to check they are who they say they are.”
