TECHNOLOGY firm Promethean is celebrating after enlisting 250,000 new customers in just one year.
The Blackburn company, which makes interactive whiteboards for schools, now has more than 500,000 members of its Promethean Planet website, a figure that has doubled in the past 12 months.
It is the latest success for the multi-million pound Philips Road-based business, which is due to float on to the stock market later this year.
Promethean Planet was launched in 2006 as a website which allows teachers and other education professionals to download software for their whiteboards.
Since then, it has grown rapidly and is now available in 10 languages and is used by 515,000 members in countries across the world.
And the website is all maintained and run from Promethean’s Blackburn HQ, which employs 350.
Chief strategy officer Brent Taggart said: “Promethean Planet’s growth has surpassed all our expectations."
