POLICE are appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy was head-butted in Darwen.
The boy was walking along Railway Road with two of his friends when they were approached from behind by two males wearing dark clothes with their hoods up.
One of the men butted the boy, causing an injury to his nose, before they ran away.
An investigation is underway and police are particularly keen to speak to a man who intervened by shouting across the road.
This man was described as black and wearing a blue jacket.
DC Mark Hogan said: “I appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who saw the two males in the Railway Station area around the time of the assault to contact us.
“I am also keen to speak to the man who shouted across the road and would ask him to contact us as he may have some information which would help our investigation.”
Anyone with information about the assault, which took place at 7.50pm on Sunday, should contact the police on 0845 125 3545 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
