A MAIN road into Blackburn was closed tonight after a multi-car smash in rush hour.

Police said five cars were initially reported to be involved in the accident in King Street near the Shell garage and Lidl supermarket at 5.35pm.

But officers said a Ford Focus, being driven away from the town centre, collided with an Audi Q7 being driven in the opposite direction.

The vehicles then hit several parked cars.

The road was closed by police at 6pm and didn’t re-open until after 8pm.

Police said no-one was seriously injured in the smash.
