NEWRAD Fisheries Club has been granted more than £6,000 by the Darwen and Rural Neighbourhood Board to replace fencing at its Watery Lane site.
The club will replace the fencing that borders the footpath between the fishing lodge and the play area with a higher and more secure fence.
They hope this measure will stop youths entering the site and causing damage to the facilities and harming the wildlife.
It will also stop youths swimming in the water during the summer and walking on the ice in the winter.
The £6,187.50 was granted subject to conditions, including that planning permission was sought and approved, local residents were consulted, further quotes were obtained for the work, and that the club will be responsible for maintainence of the fence.
