There is a change at the top of the first division.

With Westholme “A” now having played their outstanding match against Tag at the Hyndburn Sports Centre, they were able to secure a 15 – 5 victory and claim 19 bonus points.

This was sufficient for them to secure a 3 point lead at the top of the able over Blackburn Seniors “A” who did not have a match. This now throws open who the champions will be as the second half of the league programme just about to start.

Westholme have only been defeated in one game this season by the seniors, who up till now have a 100% record.

Whilst these two side fight for top placing, Clitheroe “A” have now showed signs that they could be interested in a place amongst the elite.

Bottom side Westholme “B” were unable to make virtually any headway in their match at the school and Clitheroe dominated play from the start to record a very handsome 16 – 4 victory and also claimed valuable bonus points to now open up a gap from fourth placed Tag.

Telecom “A” still move ahead at the top of the second division as a result of a one-sided match against Roefield “A”.

Abacus “A” are still chasing the leaders but dropped two valuable bonus points on the leaders recording a 15 – 5 victory over Whitehall.

Olympic now move up the tables as a result of recording a narrow win 11 – 9 away to Roefield “A” and then a comfortable victory over St Nicholas 13 – 7.

Blackburn Seniors “B” are the first team this season who have won all their games in a match and thus claim the maximum bonus points available.

Clitheroe “C” were unfortunate to meet such strong opposition, and were never in with a chance only scoring 14 aces in three games and the remainder well down. This victory opens up a considerable lead at the of the table.

Meanwhile second placed Abacus “A” took a 16 – 4 victory over Westholme “C” in what was a competitive match.
