A BURNLEY man has celebrated a milestone birthday by raising more than £300 for Pendleside Hospice.

In honour of turning 40, Jamie Taylor held a party at Nelson Cricket Club and raised fund by holding a raffle and selling glow sticks.

Everyone who attended was asked to wear something pink and all those who did not were fined.

As a result he raised a total of £380 for the Reedley-based charity.

Hospice fundraiser Clare Richards said: “Jamie has proved how easy it is to raise funds for the hospice as this can be done by just simply holding a collection or raffle at your celebration.”

The money raised will help the hospice provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Annual running costs now exceed £2.85 million.
