BURNLEY councillors have welcomed the town’s teenagers into the Council Chamber to update them on the changes made since their last visit to the Town Hall back in March.

The teenagers, who ranged from Years 7 to 11, represented the borough’s five secondary schools, and most of the town’s neighbourhoods.

In March, the youngsters attended a series of workshops where council officers listened to their views on where they wanted improvements make in the town.

During the past six months the council has acted on a number of the ideas raised – including playground improvements taking place at several of the borough’s parks, and £85,000 has been committed to a new outdoor activity programme.

New inflatables and slides have also been bought for St Peter’s and Padiham leisure centres.

Coun Andy Tatchell said: “It was a pleasure to welcome back the young people and be able to tell them that not only did we listen, but we took action.”
