A BACUP man who lost his wife to cancer five years ago, will be taking part in a Rossendale Hospice tradition.

Raymond Dunkley will be one of many people attending this year’s Light up a Life Christmas service as the people of Rossendale commemorate their loved ones.

Personalised cards will be sent from the staff at Rossendale Hospice to those involved in the candlelit event.

Raymond said: “My wife Olwyn died from cancer five years ago and during her illness she attended the Hospice Day Care services.

“Each year I find great comfort in paying tribute to my wife and supporting the Light up a Life appeal, which is an important fundraising event for the hospice.

“The service is really uplifting and in my opinion a lovely, most befitting way for me to remember my wife, my children to remember their mum and my grand-children to remember their grandma at Christmas time.”

This year the service will be held at St James the Less Church, Burnley Road, Rawtenstall, on Tuesday December 15 at 7pm.
