CALLS have been made by a Burnley firm for VAT cuts of five per cent under the 'Get Britain Building' campaign.
Howarth Timber and Building Supplies, based in Pratt Street has joined forces with the Builders Merchants' Federation to call on the Government to get people spending money on their homes.
The 'Get Britain Building' is a campaign to cut VAT by five per cent on home improve-ments to stimulate the building sector and stop job losses, currently at 450,000 over the last two years.
Branch manager Martin Nauman said: “The industry is in dire need of support to halt its alarming decline. Without direct and swift assistance many of these jobs will never return.”
