MORE than £1,000 has been raised in memory of a baby who died from a rare genetic disorder.
Lois Grace Entwistle died aged 11 months, in October, from Edwards Syndrome.
The condition meant that she had an extra 18th chromosome.
She was deaf, had sensitive eyes and slightly deformed ears.
She was fed medicines and liquids through a tube, but enjoyed pureed fruits.
About 95per cent of children with the disorder die in the womb, and most of those born live to only two months.
Lois’ parents Louise Entwistle, 21, and Danny Hodson, 24, of Countess Road, Lower Darwen, asked for donations to Derian House Children’s Hospice after her death.
And last week they handed over a cheque for £1,125.
They had spent time at the centre with Lois enjoying the special lights room, swimming pool and craft activities.
Louise said: “I’m really pleased that friends and family have donated so much in a short time.
"We hope to do more fundraising activities next year.”
