WORKERS at Pendle communications firm Daisy have been reassured after it revealed plans to axe 300 jobs.

In a trading update, it said redundancies would be made after a £200million reverse takeover of London firm Freedom4 earlier this year and four other buy-outs.

However, bosses said no jobs would be axed at Daisy’s headquarters at the Lomeshaye Industrial Estate in Nelson.

Instead, posts will be cut at Freedom4’s London companies Vialtus, AT Communications and Redstone, and Halifax-based Eurotel.

Gareth Kirkwood, Daisy’s chief operating officer, said: “As part of our growth plan, earlier this year we acquired four businesses, two of which were in administration.

“Since that time we have worked with each of these to remove duplication of roles, processes and systems and to consolidate operations here in Lancashire at our Nelson base.

“As a result of this process, we will be reducing the total number of people employed in Daisy and the acquired businesses by approximately 300 between now and the end of March next year.”

Last month, Daisy announced it would create around 150 new jobs when its new building, next door to the HQ, opens next month.
