A NEW boss has been appointed at one of East Lancashire’s most iconic companies.

Brian Davidson this week takes over as chief executive at Darwen-based Crown Paints, the kit sponsor of Blackburn Rovers.

The appointment of Mr Davidson comes as executive chairman Graham Hallworth steps down.

Mr Hallworth had been in charge of the Hollins Road-based business since it was bought from Akzo Nobel by private equity firm Endless LLP in September 2008.

Mr Davidson joins Crown Paints from bus and coach manufacturer Alexander Dennis.

Crown Paints, the UK’s largest independent paint manufacturer, said new boss Mr Davidson had an “outstanding track record with successful businesses”.

Mr Davidson said: “I am delighted to be joining Crown Paints at such an exciting time in the development of the business.

“Crown Paints has fantastic brands with great products and I am looking forward to working with the team to enhance our customer experience, building on the good work already completed by Graham Hallworth.”
