A TEENAGE web designer is still working for his company – despite living 1,500 miles away from its East Lancashire base.

Lee Wallis, who works for EBusiness UK, moved out to Bodrum, Turkey, with his best friend to fulfil a lifelong ambition.

But the 19-year-old did not let his job at the Blackburn-based company hold him back.

He is now continuing his work as web designer, working remotely on designing visuals, building web pages and uploading existing websites from his Turkish home.

EBusiness, which employs 21 at its Blakewater Road base, offers web design and search engine ‘solutions’ for companies across the country.

Lee said: “I had a long chat with my manager and explained my situation and he said he was very happy for me and incredibly supportive.

“When he put forward the idea of staying with the company I was absolutely gobsmacked.

“My crazy idea of moving to Turkey suddenly turned into an amazing opportunity and the best part was that I didn’t have to sacrifice the job I love doing.”

Lee’s job involves designing and maintaining websites, deciding the look and ensuring they fit the clients’ briefs.

However, all this can be done from Turkey via email and on internet phone service Skype, according to EBusiness bosses.

Operations director Latif Kothia said: “Working remotely is something we do with our 11 franchise operations around the country.

“We’re capable of getting everything we need over the telephone or internet and have a variety of systems in place to support our work.

“Lee’s been with us for nearly two years.

“And when he was presented with this opportunity, we whole-heartedly supported his decision to move abroad.”
