FORMER Pleckgate High School Maths and Computing College students last night celebrated their successes.
Headteacher Robin Campbell not only congratulated his former GCSE pupils but the outstanding achievements of the school.
The Blackburn school this year gained another specialism, raised more than £12,000 for charity and gained the highest results ever by breaking the 60 per cent pass rate barrier for the first time.
Mr Campbell said: “We are here to celebrate the successes of the past year and what a successful year it was, once again.
“As a result of outstanding performance in 2008 we were invited during this previous academic year to apply for a second specialism as we had been recognised as a high performing specialist school.
“We are now a leading edge school with a focus on English as an additional language/literacy.
“We believe that by putting into place a comprehensive action plan we will be able to continue our excellent work in this area both for the benefit of pupils at Pleckgate but also across the borough as we seek to continue the process of raising standards.”
