A FLEDGLING business took off after a Blackburn man enlisted help from his next door neighbour.
After being made redundant Jonathan Scadding had a part time job as caretaker at St Gabriel’s Primary School off Pleckgate Road, but used the rest of his time to set up a company providing minor property repairs and maintenance, particularly for elderly residents.
Luckily, his neighbour Mubarak Chati works for Enterprise4All – a not for profit business support agency – so a chance remark across the garden fence quickly turned into an offer of assistance.
Enterprise4All has spent the last two years delivering a business start-up scheme in Lancashire and parts of Greater Manchester, providing free assistance to nearly 1,000 new companies and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Mubarak said: “He obviously has a lot of experience and, living locally, he’ll be well-placed to help other residents whenever they need a hand.
“His work at the local primary school also means he’s already CRB checked, which is an important consideration for anyone inviting a contractor or tradesperson into their home.”
