CLITHEROE town centre was brought to a standstill after a 4x4 was involved in a dramatic crash.
The female driver was said to have lost control when travelling up Moor Lane at around 8.15am, and took out several bollards and flower pots before coming to rest on a pavement near Clitheroe Travel facing back down Moor Lane.
The driver of the Suzuki Grand Vitara was taken to hospital as a precaution but later released.
The accident blocked the town’s one-way system for more than an hour as shoppers and workers struggled to get into town.
David Cowgill, of Cowgill’s newsagents and toyshop, said: “The town came to a complete standstill.
"Nobody could get in and it was really quiet for a good hour or so.
"I have no idea how the accident happened. It looks almost impossible to end up where the vehicle did.”
