A FOUR-WEEK-OLD baby is critically ill in hospital after being ‘dropped’ when his mother was allegedly assaulted.
Four-week-old Sebastian Reid suffered serious head injuries during an incident at a house in Revidge Road, Blackburn.
Sebastian suffered a fractured skull and was in a critical condition following the incident at 10.45am on Tuesday.
He was initially taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital but was later transferred to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
Neighbours in Revidge Road yesterday said they were shocked to hear of the youngster’s condition.
One said: “They hadn’t been here long but I had seen him come and go and he was a lovely baby. It is shocking and I just hope he pulls through.”
A 27-year-old-man has appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged with wounding his baby son with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Glenn Phillip Reid of Revidge Road, Blackburn, is also charged with assaulting Sebastian’s mother Kim Hague causing her actual bodily harm.
Defence solicitor Emma Morrissey, made no application for bail and Reid was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court.
