YOUNG chef Lee Browne has won an apprentice of the year award – and he’s “absolutely chuffed”.
The 17-year-old, who earned his NVQ level II award from Blackburn College, has worked at the Chetham Arms, Chapeltown, for six months.
He said: “I have learned a lot, very fast just by working here.
"I work with some great people and have had some of the best advice you can get, and it seems to be paying off.”
His boss, Debra Jones, director of Welcome Taverns, said: “Young people who are new to the business like Lee bring a lot of ideas and enthusiasm.
"He’s very keen, very enthusiastic about food and he’s off to a great start.”
