GROUPS and individuals are being invited to bid for grants to set up community-based projects aimed at improving the environment.
The Green Partnership Awards (GPA) is offering grants of up to £500 plus professional advice to local organisations and initiatives.
Financial support will be offered to projects aimed at raising awareness of environmental issues and celebrating environmental actions.
The schemes which secure funding will also be working towards enhancing the community and its residents.
GPA is a community partnership between Pendle Council, Lancashire County Council, United Utilities and the Environment Agency.
Coun John David, Leader of Pendle Council, said: “I’m full of admiration for anyone who wants to set up a project to improve the area around where they live.
“But all too often, it is money that stands in the way – and that’s where the Green Partnership Awards can help out.
“To be eligible for a grant, a project should aim to make a lasting contribution to improving the local neighbourhood.
“And we particularly welcome applications from schools.”
