A GROUP of Burnley Girl Guides has raised £65 from a ‘bring and buy’ sale.
Members of the 31st Burnley Guides organised the event to raise money for Pendleside Hospice, based at Reedley.
The girls meet every Monday at the Briercliffe Road Baptist and Methodist Church under the leadership of Christine Barnes and Pam Brierley.
They chose to help the hospice following a national Brownie and Guide initiative called Changing the World which encourages members to support a local charity.
Kaye Bartle, hospice fundraising manager, said: “It was a pleasure to talk to the girls of the 31st Burnley Guides and tell them about the work we do at Pendleside.
“The Changing the World project is a wonderful idea to encourage them to think about their local community and how they can help others.”
The money will help the hospice provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Annual running costs exceed £2.85 million, of which, £2 million-plus comes from donations.
