AN internet fraudster has been warned he could face jail after trying to con eBay customers out of more than £38,000.
Rogue trader Shumon Ullah, 24, was behind 24 bogus auctions or sales using the website, Burnley Crown Court heard.
He usually dealt in televisions, demanding more than £2,000 or £3,000 to 'successful' bidders, the court was told.
But the TVs, along with cameras and cookers, were never received despite payments being made by a host of users, say prosecutors.
An investigation was launched which eventually led to Ullah at his home in Top Barn Lane, Newchurch, Rossendale.
Now Ullah has admitted two offences of fraud, which took place between July 2007 and late 2008, when the deceptions were uncovered.
Judge Butler adjourned Ullah's case for pre-sentence reports following his admissions.
But the judge said: "Although it seems to me that a custodial sentences is inevitable, nevertheless the probation officer should consider all sentencing options, in particular a suspended sentence, based on any information you may give to him."
Two further offences of converting criminal property into cash, and one offence of transferring criminal property, which Ullah denies, will be reconsidered by prosecutors before the sentencing hearing.
Ullah's wife Afreen Ali, also 24, of Top Barn Lane, was also quizzed as part of the same inquiry, the court heard.
She had pleaded not guilty to one charge of acquiring criminal property, knowing it to represent the proceeds of criminal conduct.
Judge Butler ordered the charge to lie on the file and discharged Ali from the dock.
Ullah will be sentenced on July 24 and a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing, mounted by police, was postponed until after that hearing.
