A FATHER-OF-THREE is a month into a world record attempt for the most number of jobs in a year.
Jamie Dodd, 30, is trying to work in 365 different jobs over 365 days, without taking any sick leave or holidays.
The former St Bede’s pupil of Earnsdale Avenue, Darwen, was made redundant last year from his catering job, and admits that he never found a career that suited him.
He decided to start the challenge on his 30th birthday to gain experience in as many areas as possible.
So far he’s worked in the construction industry, plumbing, at a fruit and veg wholesalers and in charity shops.
He has also just spent the day waiting on at Huntleys restaurant in Samlesbury.
Jamie said: “There were kids aged 16 and 17 who are running rings around me, balancing plates all over.
“But I never said I was going to be good at it!”
Jamie added: “It’s been 20-odd fantastic days so far.
“I’m doing jobs I never thought I would ever get to do, like working on the features desk of The Sun.
“At first people thought it was a bit of a scam but when I turn up I show them that I’m there to work.
“It’s turned out at a lot of places that the companies then suggest other people who would take me and it snowballs.
“I have to send invoices to all the places I work so that the tax man doesn’t go mad.
“But I have a lot of help with that – especially from my parents.”
Jamie hopes to write a book about his experinces when the project is completed.
