SIZZLING Mediterranean temperatures are to stay with us well into next week.
The area has been awash with blue skies this week as revellers have made the most of soaring temperatures.
And according to the Met Office, the area is set to avoid next week’s heavy downpours and thunder storms.
A spokesman for the MET Office said: “The weekend in East Lancashire is set to bring lots of sun and some high temperatures.
“Every day into early next week is forecast to be dry, except for maybe a little rain on Sunday, with temper-atures reaching up to 24 degrees.
“Next week does bring heavy rain and thunder-storms, but this is mostly in the south and Lancashire should avoid most of it.”
Sun-seekers can make the most of the glorious weather with a host of outdoor events set to benefit.
Salesbury Primary School looks to have picked a winning weekend for its summer fair, which takes place at the school, in Lovely Hall Lane, between 12pm and 3pm tomorrow.
With bouncy castles, a giant slide, Punch and Judy show and many more games the fair could keep the children entertained for hours.
Stephen Bird, a class teacher at the school who has helped organise the event, said: “We are hoping for a bumper event this year, with a few extra events taking place on the day and the nice weather.
“All the events are ideal for the outdoors so hopefully we will get a few people turning up.
“The soak-the-teacher always seem to pull a few of the pupils in.”
A party in the park featuring live bands takes place between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, at Thompson Park, in Burnley.
And fans of classic cars and motorbikes will be out in force on Sunday, as Hoghton Tower hosts a range of retro vehicles.
People can also enjoy a picnic while watching Blackburn with Darwen brass band perform at the Conservatory, in Corporation Park, Blackburn, on Sunday, between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.
