Originally formed in 1969 comprising Rod Stewart, The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood, and The Who's Kenny Jones, Faces have become a perennial testament to the blues-rock era. Responsible for delivering a succession of Top 10 hits, this band has established a truly influential identity as one of the original good time, hard drinking British blues-rock bands.
This astounding musical legacy is celebrated with the release of their ‘Good Boys When They’re Sleeping’ collection. The album features an array of hits including ‘Ooh La La’, the No.1 smash hit that spent an unprecedented 13 weeks in the charts during April 1973. A series of classic chart rockers are also included, such as ‘Stay With Me’ the No.6 hit that spent 14 weeks in the charts during December 1971. Added releases include ‘Cindy Incidentally’ the hit that secured the No.2 spot for an astonishing 9 weeks in February 1973 and the No.8 sensation ‘Poor Hall Richard’.
After the departure of the Small Faces’ founder Steve Marriott, the remaining band members were joined by the formidable duo of Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart from The Jeff Beck Group. The reorganised outfit shortened their name and Faces were born. The band released four studio albums and toured extensively through Britain, Europe and The United States. The group were considered one of the top-grossing live acts between 1970-1975. Faces have had a seminal impact on the latter day rock movement. Their recording style and live expression fuses rustic instrumentation with a good natured and confident air. Subsequently, the band has forged synonymous links with bands such as The Damned and Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols.
