A FIRE chief has warned residents of the dangers of leaving pan’s on after a blaze in Oswaldtwistle last night.
Fire crews were called to the house on White Ash Lane at around 8.30pm after neighbours heard the fire alarm going off and saw smoke coming from the back windows.
The occupants had put a pan on the hob before falling asleep.
Gary Hargreaves, watch manager at Accrington fire station, said: “We would remind people of the serious dangers of leaving pans on and leaving them unattended.
“Fires like this can spread very quickly. It was fortunate that the house had a working smoke detector fitted that alerted neighbours, or it could have been a lot worse.”
