A PENDLE football team has raised more than £1,000 for charity by organising a trip to watch Burnley FC’s play-off success.
David West, a member of the Friends of Barrowford Celtic group, organised the coach trip to Wembley last month.
He asked every one of the travelling fans to donate a percentage of their coach fee to Pendleside Hospice, at Reedley.
After collecting all the money, he presented a cheque for £1,050 to staff from the hospice at Turf Moor.
Fundraising manager Kaye Bartle thanked them for their generosity and added: “The whole area is celebrating the fantastic achievement of Burnley FC and their promotion to the Premiership.
“We are delighted that the good people of the Friends of Barrowford Celtic have decided to share that success with the hospice.”
The money raised will help the hospice provide care to local people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses.
The current annual running costs of the hospice stand at more than £2.85million. More than £2million of that has to be raised from fundraising and donations.
