A GRIEVING family have paid tribute to a motorcyclist killed in a collision in Clitheroe Road, Bashall Eaves.

John Kenneth Bowden of Whitecroft View, Baxenden was described as “a big character with a heart of gold who was loved by many” in a statement released by his family.

John, who would have turned 40 next month, died in a crash with another vehicle on Sunday.

In the statement from his family he is described as the “much beloved husband and soul mate of Wendy, 38”.

The couple had migrated to Australia shortly after their wedding in 1998 but had come back to Accrington two years ago to take over the running of Hurn's Bakery, which Wendy's parents had previously run.

John is the son of Kenneth Bowden and the late Val. He also leaves his twin sister Michelle and younger sister Sonia.
