MORE details have been released about the makeup of the new Darwen Town Council.
Elections were held earlier this month to elect councillors to the new body, formed after a campaign and referend-um of townspeople, with the For Darwen Party claiming half of the seats.
The first meeting is on Wednesday, when three committees will be elected: a development committee, which will look at planning applications and bid for funding, a finance committee to control the budget and a communities committee to consider local issues.
For Darwen Party leader Tony Melia said he expected to chair the development committee, with fellow For Darwen members Phil Jones and Martin McCaughran chairing the other two.
The proposals will need to get the approval of the full council when it meets at the library theatre.
Coun Melia also confirmed the town council would look to takeover the power of controlling allotments from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, which does the job at the moment.
To do so would need a formal request by the town council.
