USERS of Sunnyhurst Wood are being asked not to pick the flowers beginning to bloom.
Last year the Friends of Sunnyhurst Wood planted 1,200 daffodil and bluebell bulbs for walkers to enjoy, but have found that they are being taken away, or picked and later thrown on the paths.
President of the group Dennis Gillibrand said: “We are asking people to refrain from picking the flowers.
"They create such a spectacle and we want them to remain so that people can enjoy them in their natural setting.
“It’s annoying when we went to such an effort to replenish the stocks last year.
“There used to be signs telling people to leave the flowers, but they have been taken down.”
