FIRE safety officers from Green Watch in Darwen gave safety talks at Sudellside Community Centre.
Sudell ward has one of the highest fire rates in Darwen and 50 per cent of the blazes are cooking-related.
Watch manager Tony Hartley advised people to get a deep-fat fryer instead of a chip pan and the fire crews are hoping to get funding so people can swap their old pans for the safer way to make chips.
