A VILLAGE primary school has been classed as “out-standing” in a government inspection.
Thorneyholme RC Primary School in Dunsop Bridge, received top marks in every category by Ofsted officials.
Ofsted noted that pupils’ achievement is excellent, with above average standards being reached by the end of Year Two.
Pupils who leave in Year 6 achieve exceptionally high standards in English, maths & science.
Both boys and girls accomplished these standards, which is outstanding.
The report for the 40 pupil school said: “(Headteacher Maureen Stansfield’s) clear vision and quiet determination has ensured sustained development and improvement to the school, transforming the building and facilities to meet the demands of a modern curriculum.”
Mrs Stansfield said: “All the staff are extremely proud of the school and thrilled with this report.”
Amanda Parker, chair of governors added: “We are delighted with this report.
"It recognises the commitment of the teaching staff, and their dedication is supported by the children’s academic results.
"We scored 100 per cent.”
