A WELL-KNOWN confectioner from Roe Lee celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family from Germany on Monday.
Hilda Hudson, who now lives at Longworth House Residential Home, Mellor, ran Hudson’s confectioners with her husband Arthur for 20 years.
Born in Queens Park Road, Blackburn, she has lived in the town all of her life apart from four years spent in Manchester after her marriage, where only daughter, Pat Shaw far, right, was born.
Mrs Shaw said: “She is a very caring, loving person. She’s always got a smile on her face.
“She has been an active member of Brownhill Congregational Church for many years and she was very pleased to recieve a card from the Queen, especially as it also had a Christmas message in it.”
Mrs Hudson was joined on her birthday by 45 family and friends.
