AN AMATEUR photographer is on the verge of snapping some of the world’s most famous stars after enterring a major competition.

Burnley mother of two, Donna Mills, is alreay leading the polls and firm favourite to become Sony Ericsson’s official photographer, 2009, after wowing the public with five striking images.

The winner of the online competition will attend a host of red carpet events next year to capture the worlds biggest celebrities for the mobile phone giant.

Donna, 29, of Duke Bar, took up photography three years ago and taught herself the art of still images.

She said: “This really is a dream come true so far.

“Photography is a massive passion of mine and the thought of doing it for a living is just amazing.

“I’m winning by 10% on four out of the five images, so it would take something special for me to lose that lead.”

Each photographer was limited to a Sony Ericsson 8.1 mega-pixel camera phone to capture an image inspired by a different daily theme for the competition.

The themes included loneliness, still life, my best friend, freedom, and the fast life.

Donna, who celebrated the birth of her son Ethan Craddock 15 weeks ago, has gained a much coveted following for her portraits on her website www.ladytwiglet.co.uk.

The full-time mum often uses her daughter Mia Woodward, 7, in her work, which is often people centred.

She said: “My inspiration is often alternative.

“By that I mean I do not see things in a typical run of the mill way, but I try to see beyond the obvious to get a picture.

“I am so thankful for the people who have voted for me so far and I really hope things stay the same for Friday. This will change my life so much if it comes off.”

People can vote online until 12 midnight on Friday, December 19.
