A MAN has been left with a cracked jaw and fractured eye socket after being mugged.

Police said that at 11.30pm on Saturday a 37-year-old man was walking home along St Philips Street, Blackburn when he was approached by three Asian men in a black hatchback car.

The men got out of the car and demanded he hand over his mobile phone before punching him in the face twice.

The men made off with the man’s phone in the car and the injured man was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.

DC Mark Laing from Blackburn CID said: “I appeal to anyone who saw what happened to contact us.

"I also urge anyone who saw the black hatchback vehicle in the area either before or after the attack to come forward.

”It happened near to the Griffin pub so there may have been people in the area at the time who can help with our enquiries.”

Witnesses are asked to contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
