A MASTERPLAN for the ‘gateway’ of a borough is under way with the demolition of derelict shops.
Long-standing plans for demolition on Market Street in Church finally became a reality when the buildings were torn down on Tuesday.
Hyndburn Borough Council say they are now working with owners of two of the shops to push forward exciting plans for the site, together with the old Phoenix Mill. The agreement to demolish follows the Church Oswaldtwistle masterplan, approved by cabinet in October.
Council leader Coun Peter Britcliffe said, “I’m thrilled these shops are finally coming down, it’s something we’ve been working hard towards for many years.”
