Rishton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team will be providing a strong Christmas presence throughout the area and say they will be taking a tough stance towards alcohol on the streets.
Any underage teenager caught in possession of alcohol, or who is part of a group where alcohol is present, will have their details taken, their parents will be informed and in some cases fixed a penalty fine of £40 will be issued.
Anyone over 18 will have alcohol confiscated from them if there are any minors with them and anyone unable to produce ID when asked, also runs the risk of the alcohol being taken .
Off licences will also be being visited in order to deter youngsters from gathering outside.
Any properties the police receive complaints over, or which cause anti-social behaviour, due to ‘alcohol fuelled parties’ will be reported to landlords where applicable.
